With STORM ABIS ready for general availability, Randy Jones, AWS Independent Software Vendor (ISV) Acceleration Manager, worked alongside IDEMIA to implement a marketing and sales strategy targeting mid-market law enforcement agencies across the United States. And with an agile, scalable, and cost-effective end-product in hand, it was time to go to market. AWS and IDEMIA finished building STORM ABIS in 2021. To make the solution customizable, the IDEMIA team also created a features toggle, providing agencies the option to turn certain product features on or off depending on their needs. The final product is a multi-tenant solution, backed by Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, that can be deployed within weeks or faster, if an agency already had a mature cloud environment. AWS provided strategic advisory services with a dedicated team of business and technical professionals from our AWS Service Creation and the AWS Professional Services teams. The product was created with collaboration from AWS in two strategic areas. With a compliant and secure foundation to build on, IDEMIA and AWS worked together to design a cloud-first application that was made by examiners, for examiners. AWS offered IDEMIA the security configurations they required, along with access to a team of cloud experts that could help build the solution from scratch. STORM ABIS needed to adhere to strict security and compliance regulations from local, state, and federal agencies. “But with the AWS Cloud, we saw that we could automate delivery, implementation and offer a subscription price model providing predictable year-to-year budgeting.” “Many smaller jurisdictions would never have been able to afford our original product,” explains O’Brien. This makes transaction security even more convenient and hygienic.Transforming a compliance-driven, on-premise suite into a SaaS solution posed technical challenges, but Jerry O’Brien, IDEMIA’s Chief Product Manager, knew that AWS was the answer. However, with F.CODE the transaction is authenticated the same instant the card is tapped meaning the contactless payment method can be used no matter the amount of the transaction or the threshold. With this fully EMV compliant card, transactions are still made by tapping or inserting the card into a merchant POS terminal. To ensure privacy, their biometric data is securely stored in the chip and never leaves the card.īesides increased security, nothing else changes for the cardholder or the merchant. With IDEMIA’s F.CODE biometric payment card customers authorize payments via a fingerprint sensor embedded into the card.
